Planning and implementing a trail or greenway system is complex. A successful trail is much more than just pavement – it connects people to destinations, neighborhoods to economic activity and tells a community’s story through design. A trail can be the backbone of a community for both residents and visitors.
The Elizabethtown Tourism & Convention Bureau, in conjunction with the City of Elizabethtown, are excited to be determining how to make a pedestrian and bicycle connection between Exit 94 and downtown. The goal of the project is to connect the restaurant and hotels near the interstate to downtown with surrounding neighborhoods and ultimately downtown.
This effort will produce the next generation of trails in Elizabethtown that not only provide a physical connection but also become an integrated part of the community in terms of transportation, fitness, recreation, growth and economic development. This planning effort aims to engage and excite residents and business owners in order to define the trail route, design standards and connections.
